The expo, with a theme of "Innovation, Openness, Inclusiveness and Cooperation", is to be held in Changchun, Jilin province, from Sept 1 to 5.
This is the first time the expo has launched an intelligent manufacturing exhibition area and various products including robots, 3D printers and the new generation of information technology will be on display, Li Jin, deputy-director of the executive committee of the expo and vice governor of Jilin province, said at the press conference.
The expo aims to promote the transformation and upgrading of the traditional manufacturing industry in Jilin, and to build a bridge to connect Jilin with the world via international cooperation, the Belt and Road Initiatives and the new round of Revitalizing Northeast China, Li added.
According to the local government, the expo has become a crucial platform for regional economic and trade cooperation in Northeast Asia and an important window on the opening-up of Northeast China. It has also played an irreplaceable role in responding to the national Belt and Road initiative and the revival of Northeast China.
The China - Northeast Asia Expo is a State-level exposition co-organized by the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Jilin Provincial Government, and is also the only international exposition in the world participated in by Northeast Asian countries and open to the globe.
The expo has been held for ten consecutive years, and has attracted 620,000 professional exhibitors and guests from more than 130 countries and regions in total. Every year, over 10,000 overseas exhibitors and guests are in attendance.
Over the last decade, the China-Northeast Asia Expo realized merchandise trade turnover of over US$8 billion and signed 2,494 contract projects with total investment of nearly 1.50 trillion yuan (US$220.71 billion), of which 1.44 trillion yuan (US$211.25 billion) was in extraterritorial funds.
Various business negotiation events and conferences will also be held during the expo, such as the 9th High-level Forum on China-Northeast Asia Cooperation, the Made in China 2025 in Jilin Forum and the 6th Northeast Asia Think-Tank Forum.
